Gigawit Control Privacy Policy
How the Gigawit Control app handles your information.
Effective date: 15 October 2026
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Gigawit Control (“the App”) is developed and operated by Gigawit Technology Co., Ltd. (深圳市捷电科技有限公司, “Gigawit”, “we”, “us”). This policy applies to the App on iOS, iPadOS and Android. The App was previously named FreeConnect.
The App is free. It is used to control compatible Gigawit Bluetooth audio transmitters and receivers: searching for, pairing, connecting and disconnecting devices, choosing audio codecs and audio modes, setting up Auracast broadcasts, and installing firmware updates on supported products. It does not provide music, video or any other third-party content.
2. Summary
- You can use every feature of the App without an account.
- The App contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, no third-party crash reporting and no tracking.
- Information about your Gigawit devices is stored on your phone or tablet so the App can reconnect to them. It is not sent to us.
- The App connects to the internet only to check for and download firmware updates for your Gigawit device.
3. Information the App handles on your phone or tablet
When you connect a compatible device, the App reads information from it over Bluetooth or a wired accessory connection.
- Device details: device name, model number, product code, serial number, firmware and hardware version, and Bluetooth address. Used to identify the device, show its details, check which firmware applies to it and reconnect to it. Stored in the App’s local database on your phone or tablet, together with the time the device was last connected.
- Live status and settings: battery level, signal strength, connection and streaming status, and codec and sound settings. Shown in the App so you can view and change them. Settings are saved on the Gigawit device itself.
- Paired and nearby devices: names and addresses of Bluetooth devices paired with your Gigawit device, and nearby Auracast broadcasts. Shown in the App so you can manage pairing and join broadcasts. The paired-device list is kept on your Gigawit device. The App does not keep its own copy.
- Broadcast name and password: entered by you and sent to your Gigawit device over Bluetooth to set up Auracast broadcasting.
- App preferences: language and theme. Stored on your phone or tablet.
None of this information is sent to Gigawit or to any third party.
4. Firmware updates
For products that support firmware updates, the App asks Gigawit’s firmware download site over an encrypted HTTPS connection which firmware is available for your device’s model and hardware version. If you choose to update, the App downloads the firmware file and installs it on your device.
These requests contain only the model name and hardware version, which apply to every unit of that product. They do not include your device’s serial number, its Bluetooth address or anything that identifies you.
Like any website, the server that delivers these files receives your IP address when the App connects to it. Firmware files are hosted by Gigawit or by a hosting provider acting for us, and may be delivered from servers outside your country. Any access records kept by that service are used only to deliver the files and to keep the service secure.
5. Accounts
The App does not currently offer account registration or sign-in. Some account-related menu items are shown for features planned for the future. If we introduce accounts, we will update this policy before they become available, and you will be able to delete your account from within the App.
6. Permissions
Bluetooth (iOS) / Nearby devices (Android 12 and later). The App needs this to find, connect to and control your Gigawit devices. If you decline or later turn it off, the App cannot find or control devices. You can turn it back on at any time in your phone’s settings.
Location (Android). On some versions of Android, the system requires location permission before an app can scan for Bluetooth devices. The App asks for it only for this reason. It does not read, store or send your location. If you decline, the App may be unable to find devices on those Android versions.
When you connect a device, your phone may also show its standard Bluetooth pairing request.
The App does not request access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts or notifications.
7. Third parties and sharing
The App does not include advertising, analytics or crash-reporting software from third parties. It is built with Google’s open-source Flutter framework and other open-source libraries. These run on your phone or tablet and do not send data to their authors.
We do not sell your information. We only disclose information where the law requires us to.
The following parties may receive information:
- Apple and Google. Downloads of the App are handled by the App Store and Google Play under their own privacy policies. If you have chosen in your phone’s settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may give us crash reports and usage statistics that they have processed so that they do not identify you.
- Our firmware hosting provider. See section 4.
8. How long information is kept and how to delete it
- Device details stored on your phone or tablet stay there until you remove the device in the App (Forget Device or Remove Device) or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App deletes all the information it has stored.
- Settings saved on a Gigawit device stay on that device until you change them or reset the device.
9. Your choices and rights
You control the information the App handles. You can remove saved devices in the App, turn off its Bluetooth or location permission in your phone’s settings, or uninstall it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us whether we hold personal information about you, and to access, correct or delete it. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, email us at the address below. We will reply within 30 days.
10. Security
- Information stored by the App stays in the App’s private storage area on your phone or tablet, which the operating system protects.
- Firmware is downloaded over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- The firmware list is digitally signed by Gigawit. The App checks this signature, and the size and checksum of each firmware file, before installing it. Firmware that fails these checks is rejected.
11. Children
The App is a general-purpose tool for controlling audio hardware. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date. If an App update changes how the App handles information, for example by adding accounts, we will update this policy before that version is released.
