2.1 Audio codecs
EV160 transmits to Bluetooth headphones or speakers with the following codecs:
| Codec | Notes |
|---|---|
| LDAC1 | Sony high-resolution codec, highest priority by default |
| LHDC2 | High-resolution codec |
| aptX Adaptive | Adjusts bit rate to the radio conditions |
| aptX HD | Higher-resolution variant of aptX |
| aptX LL | Low-latency variant of aptX |
| aptX3 | Qualcomm codec |
| SBC | Mandatory baseline Bluetooth codec |
Note
EV160 does not support AAC.
For LE Audio it supports LC3, aptX Lite and aptX Adaptive; Auracast broadcasts use LC3.
Bluetooth transmit supports up to 96 kHz.
LDAC bit rates
With LDAC selected, you can switch between the three official bit rates under Bluetooth → Codecs:
| Setting | Bit rate |
|---|---|
| Quality priority | 990 kbps |
| Standard | 660 kbps |
| Connection priority | 330 kbps |
Default priority and manual selection
EV160 gives LDAC the highest priority by default. You can choose a preferred codec under Bluetooth → Codecs.
The default priority does not force a codec on every connection. The codec actually used is negotiated from what both devices support and the current link conditions, and the display shows the codec in use.
Tip
If LDAC is selected but the other device does not support it, the connection automatically falls back to a codec both devices support.
